this is me! funny looking bird!
It's difficult to explain exactly what or who you are. I do know that I have always been creative, artistic and as my Mum would have said 'airy fairy'. She passed away a few years ago and as part of my grieving process I found clay. I remember doing pottery and art at high school and loved it. Then I left school to get a job at 16! Luckily, I fell into advertising and marketing, found love, had kids, then went back to work in education, healthcare and magazine publishing (which was awesome).
So here we are many years down the line. Commitments have lessened and now the creativity has the time and energy to develop.

WHAT A LOAD OF HOLLYHOCKS - Summer 2026
Something a bit different! I love hollyhocks and especially this deep chocolate red variety.
I have tried to replicate the colour in clay and failed, Amaco chum plum is not quite the one!!! Will attempt again but maybe with underglazes at some point soon at Lora's lovely studio at The Clay Collective.
During this heatwave I decided to try some acrylic painting as a distraction from the heat. I then bought some cheap white artificial flowers from Dunelm and dug out my silk paints and had a play. Halfway through I had to dash off to collect my miniature pots from Katherine Fortnum ceramics. I had a miniature pottery wheel experience a few months ago, it was great fun, but much more difficult than throwing on a regular sized wheel. I highly recommend giving it a try. Katherine uses her own glazes and the resulting colour is similar to the hollyhocks.
Added the painted flowers to my metal vase next to the recent acrylic painting and I'm quite pleased with the results.
The chickens are evicted - Spring 2025
After much thought, the chickens were moved to the other side of the garden and a shed has been put up for throwing clay and making a mess in. I found a cheap broken wheel, repaired it and set up a mini studio.
I keep the shed cleaner and tidier than my house. Perhaps I should throw in the house and move into the shed.
